Mimi Miyeon Barnardi

Previously known by her Korean name Mi-Yeon I, Mimi is an international prize-winning classical concert pianist from New Zealand.

At age 14, she made her national TV performance debut, and at 16, she became the first student to be granted a special admission to a university in New Zealand, entering two years in advance. She completed her Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland, won 1st prize in the university’s concerto competition and also received the Blue Award from the university.

She continued her studies overseas at prestigious music institutions, including the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University in the United States, where she won 1st prize in the conservatory’s piano competition. She also studied at the “Incontri col Maestro” International Piano Academy in Imola, Italy, with world-renowned maestros as one of the few selected pianists around the world.

She has performed at major concert halls and for former Prime Ministers Dame Jenny Shipley and Helen Clark of New Zealand. She has also made numerous appearances on TV, radio and in magazines.
